Topshop Lips in Ooh La La

I've never really owned a coral coloured lipstick so I thought with Summer coming up, it was the perfect time to make a purchase! I bought the Topshop lips shade 'Ooh La La' (love the quirky names) which as you can see, is a pinky coral.

I've spoken about how much I love Topshop lipsticks before in my 'My Favourite Lipstick' post. They're just so moisturising and the shades are spot on. I also think that for £8 they are a pretty good price. I'm really not one for spending a crazy amount on lipstick since it's not a product that I wear every day!

What's your favourite coral lipstick?

Essence Haul

Essence is a makeup brand that I've only recently come across because I've seen other bloggers mention their products. They are a super inexpensive brand and I was lucky enough to get hold of a little haul of products to try out. I got..

Silky touch blush in the shade 70 Kissable
Soo glow! cream to powder highlighter in the shade 20 bright up your life
Lipliner in the shade 08 Red Blush
Lipliner in the shade 15 Honey Berry
All about nude eyeshadow palette in 01 Nude
Soft touch mousse in the shade 01 Sand
The gel nail polish base coat
The gel nail polish in 04 Sweetest Day
The gel nail polish top coat

I also got a clear wash/makeup bag to keep all the products in. I always find you can never have too many makeup bags!

I can't wait to try everything out, although I am slightly skeptical of the mousse foundation * flashbacks to the age 14 dream matte mousse phase *... but we shall see! I'm also quite excited to have a go with the lip liners as I've never properly got into using lip liner before and they seem to be pretty in at the moment.

Have you used any Essence products?

*All the products are PR samples however this is not a sponsored post and all opinions are my own*

New Look Basics Haul

I admit this is not the most exciting of hauls but I haven't bought any new clothes in a while and I needed to stock up on some basic clothes. Rather than spending probably double the amount from Topshop, I thought I would buy from New Look for a change. It's only been recently that I've discovered how good New Look basics are. I think from now on I will be buying my basics from New Look and then spending more on the things that are actually worth spending more on like dresses, skirts, bags etc.

I picked up some of their black super skinny jeans which were £19.99. Now I don't know how long these will last before fading (probably not very long) but I've been needing some new black jeans for a while and I thought they looked quite nice.

I got a skirt in a sort of Burberry-esque print (£14.99). I really like it and I think it will go with a lot. It actually reminds me of something that one of the Mean Girls would wear with a bright pink top!

I got a striped top (£9.99) because you can never have too many stripy tops. Am I right? It has 3/4 sleeves which I think will be good for the weather at the moment. English weather varies so much! I also got the same style top but a grey, ribbed version.

I picked up a very simple plain white t-shirt with a pocket at the front. It was only £6.99 and I have a feeling I will be wearing it a lot this Summer.

Lastly, I got a long sleeve, dark grey top. (£7.99)This is more Autumn/Winter but I thought I would get it anyway just for those occasional chilly days.

Are you a fan of New Look clothes?

My Favourite Lipstick

I recently purchased a Topshop lipstick in the shade 'Desert' and it has quickly become my absolute favourite lipstick. I love super nude shades like this because I really like it when my lips are a lighter shade than they actually are.. if that makes sense? I also love my makeup to look as natural as possible as I've really gone off the heavy face of makeup look. Lighter, more natural makeup is so much nicer for Spring/Summer anyway!

The lipstick is sort of across between matte and a moisture finish which I like because it doesn't dry out, but doesn't come off too easily at the same time. A lot of you probably already know this, but Topshop lipsticks are in fact made in the same factory as MAC lipsticks so the quality is very similar!

Have any of you tried this Topshop lipstick?

Orelia

I was recently given the opportunity to receive some gorgeous pieces from Orelia which I was pretty excited about! Orelia are an online brand that make and supply the most lovely jewellery. I was sent three pieces and I absolutely love all three!

First of all I chose the elephant charm as it's just the cutest little thing! I've had an elephant necklace from Topshop for a while, but the gold plating has worn off so I felt this would make the perfect replacement. All I need is a gold necklace chain!

I chose the little feather necklace just because I love dainty jewellery (as I posted about the other day) and love to layer them.

And last but not least, I chose a sheet of temporary tattoo's. I would never ever get a real tattoo because I'm way too indecisive. Plus needles. Need I say any more? I love temporary tattoo's because, well, they're temporary! I also loved the pastel-y theme of the ones I chose.

The necklace and charm are of such high quality which I'm quite impressed with given how inexpensive they are (£10 and £15). If you're a cute jewellery lover like me, you should definitely have a browse on the website!

* The pieces were sent to me for review purposes, however this is not a sponsored post and all opinions are my own! *

American Candy

As you can see, I was lucky enough to be sent an amazing box of American Candy from Taffy Mail! Taffy Mail is the UK's only American sweets subscription service that you can sign up with and get American Candy delivered to your door every month. I love the concept of this because I can never choose when it comes to this kind of thing (everything just looks too good!). It's handy when you can get a random selection of tasty things to try! They offer three different boxes ranging from £7.49 to £24.99 depending on the amount and type of candy/treats you want. I was sent the medium box which contained such a nice range of treats. I thought I would let you know what I thought of each!

Reese's Crispy Crunchy | One thing that I love about American candy is that they have so much peanut butter stuff. I just LOVE peanut butter and this was uh-maazing. Basically a chocolate bar with peanuts, crispy bits, and salted peanut butter. YUM.

Pretzel M&M's |These are probably one of my favourite variations of M&M that I have tried (along with the pb and crispy ones). I'm a fan of mixing salty and sweet so loved the combination of the salted pretzel and sweet chocolate.

Baby Ruth | Another peanut butter chocolate bar and as you may be able to tell from the picture, it was HUGE! Thoroughly enjoyed this!

Charleston Chew | I had never heard of this before but it's basically just marshmallowy nougat coated in milk chocolate. Quite a nice treat!

Starburst Fruit Flavour Candy Corn | I'm really not sure how to describe these because I have never had any sweets with the same texture. Maybe just very slightly like a jelly baby but not as much jelly..ish? The fruit flavours were nice but I really wasn't overly keen on these. I still ended up eating the full pack though!

Milk Duds | Despite the rather strange name, these are basically like a more oddly shaped toffee poppet/ Quality Street toffee penny. A chewy toffee centre surrounded by milk chocolate. They're very chewy and moreish!

Jaw Busters | These were pretty much the same as English jaw breakers. Just very sweet without a specific flavour other than general sweetness. I'm wasn't a huge fan of these but I would have loved this kind of thing when I was 13 and used to buy jaw breakers before school every morning!

Seriously Strawberry/Cherry Lemonade Nerds |I'm not a huge fan of Nerds since I prefer chewy sweets. The flavours were so nice though!

Cherry Ice Blow Pop | Just your typical cherry flavoured lollipop except it had a bubblegum centre. I love cherry flavoured sweets so this was good!

Laffy Taffy Mystery Double Flavour Rope | This was SO good and very similar to those maoam sweets that you get (which I really really love).

Gatorade Fruit Punch | I don't normally drink sugary soft drinks but this was an exception as I felt I should try it! It tasted nice but personally I found it a bit too sweet. It's super fruity and refreshing so I could imagine it would be perfect ice cold on a hot day.

IF YOU ARE THINKING OF SIGNING UP YOU CAN USE THE CODE RACHELCOCO WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO GET 10% OFF THE FIRST THREE MONTHS!

Tips for writing an assignment/essay

Since starting my Uni course last October, assignments have started taking up a large proportion of my time. Over time I've improved a lot when it comes to writing assignments and have a much better strategy when it comes to putting them together. Here are a few tips which will hopefully be helpful to some of you!

Start straight away - DON'T LEAVE IT UNTIL LAST MINUTE
No matter how far away your deadline is, I find starting straight away is key. It puts you into the right mind set and means that you're much more likely to get it out the way. The longer you leave starting it, the longer you're going to put it off and the less motivated you will become! There is nothing worse than leaving it to the last day and having to rush through it. Chances are it won't be as good as if you have taken time over it!

Research
Do research into the topic you are writing about and make notes of key information that you could include. Then you will have all the information you need to write it rather than having to stop to do research all the way through the writing process. If you have to use a referencing system (like I do.. Harvard referencing sucks!) then do make sure you note down the website URL you have found any information from so that you can reference it correctly.

Plan - write down headings for each paragraph
I always like to create a very basic plan. I literally just write down a heading for each paragraph that tells me what I'm writing about so I know exactly what I'm writing and in what order.

Set mini targets
Depending on how long you plan on taking over it, you might want to set some mini targets to help you stay on track. I tend to stick to doing the research and planning in one day, writing half of it the next day, and finishing it the day after (for a 2,000 word assignment)

Get someone else to read it
I always get my Mum to read my finished assignments as she's often a lot better at spotting mistakes in my work than I am. Sometimes you just don't spot everything yourself!

Travel

I recently seemed to have developed this major craving (craving doesn't just apply to food right?..) to travel to so many places! It's strange because a year or so ago I wasn't really someone that was mega attracted to travelling and experiencing new places/cultures.

I have actually been a fair few countries in my life time. We used to go on quite a lot of holidays as a family before my parents took on hefty work commitments. It's probably why I am dying to go on holiday somewhere completely new and refreshing! I did a post a few weeks ago all about travelling alone and how I'm thinking of booking to go on one of those group tour holidays. I still want to but I just can't decide where I want to go/what to do!..Oh why do I have to be so hopeless with decisions?! Here are a list of the places I would mostly love to visit!

Singapore
Hong Kong
Shang Hai
Vietnam
Thailand
Dubai
Monaco
Paris
Japan
Taiwan
The Maldives
Hawaii
Fiji
India (again)
Cambodia
Costa Rica

Have any of you been to any of these? Where would your dream holiday destination be?

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you're having a fabulous day eating way too much chocolate. I was lucky enough to wake up to lots of Easter treats. I didn't actually get an Easter egg but who needs an egg when you've got salted popcorn and hazelnut chocolates.. NOT ME!

I don't know what has happened but it seems as though Easter has brought Spring over night. It's SUCH a lovely day (where I live anyway) - sunny and warm but not unbearably hot. I really want to just sit outside but unfortunately Easter is an incredibly busy day of the year at where I work.. so lucky me!

How have you spent this Easter?

River Island Spring Picks

I've never really been a huge fan of River Island (except for the bags and shoes) just because they don't usually sell the kind of clothes I like to wear/find flattering. I think this Spring they've really stepped up their game and have so much more of 'my style'  which I've been lusting after.

Wool Blend Drape Slouchy Coat | £40 | Even though it's Spring, England is always chilly (bar those few unbearable hot days in Summer). I think a nice light weight coat like this is perfect for layering over S/S outfits when it's a bit chilly to wear them on their own.

White Cotton Plain Slouchy T-Shirt | £12 | You can never go wrong with a fresh, lightweight white tee in Spring/Summer. They go with everything and quite a bargain too!

Grey Floral Pink Mini Skirt | £28 | How gorgeous is the design on this skirt! I'm not normally a super floral person but I love the colour scheme and I find these kind of skirts flattering.

White V-neck Cami Top | £16 | Again keeping with the plain white theme but I love it! I admit I can't really pull off a V-neck very well * sigh * but I think they look so lovely and dressed up.

Oversized Fedora | £28 | I have no idea if I can actually pull a fedora off but I always think they look so nice when I see other people wearing them. They add a lovely element of 'chicness'.

Grey Wrap Front Mini Skirt | £15 | This is basically my ideal skirt. Super simple and grey and that perfect A-line but not too A-line shape.

Jersey Short Cami Top | £22 | I love the style of this top and I don't really own anything similar. I think this would look so nice with skinny jeans.

White Round Sunglasses | £13 | I mentioned liking circular sunglasses a few days ago and I just love these! I already have a black pair so white would be a nice addition to my sunglasses collection.

Which is your favourite Spring piece that I've picked out?
